Bathroom Tiler in Ealing & West London

A bathroom only looks good for as long as the work behind the tiles holds up. We strip out, prepare, waterproof and tile bathrooms so they stay right for years.

What we do

Bathroom tiling that holds up behind the tiles

Most bathroom problems we see come down to preparation: tiles fixed straight onto weak plaster, showers with no tanking, floors that flex. We start by taking the room back to a sound surface. Where walls need it, we board them with tile backer board; in showers and around baths we apply a proper waterproofing system before tiling.

Setting out matters as much as the tiling itself. We plan cuts so they fall where you won't notice them, keep grout lines straight and even, and line up wall and floor joints where the tile allows. Whether it's a compact en-suite, a family bathroom or a loft shower room, the standard is the same.

Already have a bathroom that just looks tired? Regrouting and resealing can transform it for a fraction of the cost of a refit. We rake out old grout, regrout, and reseal around baths, trays and basins.

Every bathroom is tiled by Robert Rajz himself: an NVQ Level 3 qualified tiler with 18 years' experience, a Gold CSCS card holder and fully insured. In a bathroom the hidden work decides how long the tiles last, so Robert would rather be the tiler you're glad you paid for than the lowest quote you regret.

Process

How a bathroom tiling job runs

  1. 01

Strip-out: old tiles and adhesive come off, and the walls and floor are checked for weak plaster, flexing boards and damp.

  2. 02

Boarding: weak or uneven walls are boarded with tile backer board so the tiles have a sound surface.

  3. 03

Waterproofing: showers and the walls around baths get a proper waterproofing system before any tiles go on.

  4. 04

Setting out: cuts are planned around the bath, basin, window and any niche so they fall where you won't notice them.

  5. 05

Tiling and grouting: walls and floor are tiled with straight, even grout lines, lining up wall and floor joints where the tile allows.

  6. 06

Sealing: baths, trays and basins are sealed with silicone at every junction.

FAQ

Bathroom Tiling: questions

Do you remove the old bathroom tiles? +

Yes. Strip-out of old tiles and adhesive is part of the job, so the walls can be taken back to a sound surface before anything new goes on.

Do bathroom walls need backer board? +

Not always. Sound, flat plaster away from water can often be tiled once primed. In showers, around baths, or where the plaster is weak, walls are boarded with tile backer board and waterproofed before tiling.

Can you regrout and reseal instead of retiling? +

Often, if the tiles are sound. Old grout is raked out and replaced, and baths, trays and basins are resealed. If tiles are loose or water is getting behind them, a repair may not be enough.

Can you work with my bathroom fitter? +

Yes. The tiling can be coordinated with your bathroom fitter so surfaces are ready at the right stage. Vanta Tiling doesn't do plumbing or fit sanitaryware.
